CREATIVE CLAY COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES

Update: 3/15/23

As of March 15, 2023 the CDC reports Pinellas County, Florida is at LOW Transmission, meaning the positivity rate is under 5%. Creative Clay will now have optional masking for all students, member artists, teachers and staff. If you are not vaccinated or are in a high risk group for complications from Covid-19, you are encouraged to continue to wear a mask at Creative Clay.

If the transmission level rises to MEDIUM or HIGH, Creative Clay may enforce masking once again.

Thank you for your understanding and working to help to keep Creative Clay’s member artists, staff and volunteers as safe as possible.

The Community Arts Program began at 60% capacity on June 14, 2021. We are monitoring the CDC recommendations to ensure compliance with their safety guidelines. 100% of staff is vaccinated. We have confirmed that more than 90% of adult participants are vaccinated as well. As of July 26, 2021 Creative Clay reinstated its guideline for ALL participants and staff to wear masks indoors based on CDC Guidelines for Adult Day Service Centers (ADSCs). According to the CDC: ADSCs with people who are fully vaccinated and people who are not fully vaccinated, or with people whose vaccination status is unknown, should continue to use prevention strategies including mask use, AND physical distancing by people who are not fully vaccinated, and ensuring good ventilation, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and other controls.

The CDC recognizes that certain groups of people, including those with disabilities, are more vulnerable to get severely ill with Covid-19:

  • Older adults are more likely to get severely ill from COVID-19. More than 81% of COVID-19 deaths occur in people over age 65. The number of deaths among people over age 65 is 80 times higher than the number of deaths among people aged 18-29.

  • Long-standing systemic health and social inequities have put various groups of people at increased risk of getting sick and dying from COVID-19, including many people from certain racial and ethnic minority groups and people with disabilities.

    • Studies have shown people from racial and ethnic minority groups are also dying from COVID-19 at younger ages. People in minority groups are often younger when they develop chronic medical conditions and may be more likely to have more than one condition.

    • People with disabilities are more likely than those without disabilities to have chronic health conditions, live in congregate settings, and face more barriers to healthcare. Studies have shown that some people with certain disabilities are more likely to get COVID-19 and have worse outcomes.

Additionally this is a list of conditions that create a high risk of people being seriously ill with Covid-19. If you or your loved one have any of the following conditions, Creative Clay recommends you or your loved one stay home when Covid-19 positivity rates are over 5%. The link at the bottom of this page called “CDC TRACKER” provides that information. Conditions include, but are not limited to:

    • Cancer

    • Chronic kidney disease

    • Chronic liver disease

    • Chronic lung diseases

    • Dementia or other neurological conditions

    • Diabetes (1 or type 2)
