Darger made massive fantastical drawings colored with brilliant watercolors to illustrate his 15,000-page manuscript. Nobody saw any of this work until he was on his death bed, where he asked that it all be thrown away. Johnston became known as an influential songwriter. His recordings were primitive, created recording from tape recorder to tape recorder so he could play along with himself. Shane is inspired by music. He says it moves him to draw or write his own music and songs. He’s also inspired by viewing intricate and colorful visual art.

Shane enjoys drawing, making songs, and watching movies with his family.
