Heart Art: Black Health and Wellness, our February virtual exhibit, celebrates Black History Month, and features artwork by Creative Clay's member artists. We hope you’re inspired by these select pieces.
Every February, the U.S. honors the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who have helped shape the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are an indelible part of our country's history. This year's theme, Black Health and Wellness, pays tribute to medical scholars and health care providers. They’re recognized for their dedication to their practice and to improving medical outcomes for Black people. This theme recognizes the significant toll that the Covid-19 pandemic has taken on the Black population. Because minority communities have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Black health care professionals face unique burdens. Besides caring for a population greater affected by certain health issues, there are unresolved issues with race. That weight has gotten heavier amid the pandemic. In highlighting specific art by our member artists, we seek to provide beauty, solace and a message of love and respect through art.
