Street Art: Ali Vasquez + Todd Frain SHINE Artists 2016 , the NOVEMBER exhibit in Creative Clay’s Good Folk Gallery, features street art-inspired work by Creative Clay artists, a nod to this year’s 9th SHINE 2023 Mural Arts Festival.
Featured in the exhibit are new artwork by Creative Clay artist Ali Vasquez, and Teaching Artist Todd Frain, SHINE Artists 2016. Frain’s powerful and beautiful mixed media pieces, in acrylic, paint marker, spray paint and colored pencil, are “a modern twist inspired by traditional tattoo designs,” he said. Vasquez’s bold and colorful acrylic paintings are inspired by Mayan design. Ali worked with teaching artist Todd Frain to create their Mayan Mural on the building that formerly housed the Academy of Ballet Arts, 2914 1st Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Ali’s and Todd’s mural is on the SHINE Art tour and a much visited mural in the city. Learn more about their murals at https://stpeteartsalliance.org/ali-vasquez.
Other Creative Clay artists with work in the exhibit include Hanna V., Stephanie P., Ashton T., Marquise R., Grace P., Candy K., Samuel S., Michael H., Carla L., Kevin H. and Shasta G.
This exhibit may be viewed in person at Creative Clay. Our hours are 9 am - 4 pm, Monday through Friday, and each second Saturday ArtWalk 5-9pm.
